Printable 18U A and Gold Northern National Managers Packet 2013

  1. Awards
ASA Code 607 dictates the awards based on the number of teams entered.

  2. Format
Two pool play games and double elimination is the standard format specified for the ASA Nationals in 2013. Pool play begins Thursday, August 1 at 6 p.m. Double elimination immediately follows pool play and is estimated to start Friday evening, August 2.

  3. Draw Procedure – Article 511 of the ASA Code governs the draw. The pool play draw will be done in advance of teams arriving and posted on BloomingtonNationals.com no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30. The national ASA office strongly suggests pool draws be done in advance to give teams advanced notice. Double elimination brackets are determined immediately after a team finishes its second pool play game. The order of finish in pool play dictates seeding on the double elimination bracket.

  4. Uniforms
All players competing at the ASA/USA Nationals shall properly wear uniforms that are alike in color, trim, and style. Short or long pants may be mixed. Coaches must be neatly attired or dressed in team uniform in accordance with the color code of the team. Please see the ASA official playing rules – Rule 3, Section 6 for complete information.

  5. Line-Ups
Tournament officials will provide line-up cards for each team. An official line-up must be submitted to the scorekeeper at least 15 minutes prior to the game scheduled time.

  6. Game Times
Please follow the times listed on the tournament bracket. Game time is forfeit time. Teams should be prepared to start a game once the preceding game is complete. In pool and double elimination play, there is a 1 hour and 40 minute time limit. No inning shall start after the 1 hour 40 minutes has expired.

  7. Infield Practice/Pre-Tournament Practice
No infield practice is permitted. Warm-up is allowed in designated areas only. Teams may warm up in the outfield grass if time permits. Warm up is allowed in the area between 200' temporary fences and 300' permanent fences. Teams wishing to practice prior to August 2 may reserve a practice field by calling Bloomington Parks and Recreation at (812) 349-3700 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. (EST) Monday through Friday. Practice fields may be reserved at no charge for teams registered to play in the northern national tournament.

  8. Bench Area
Players, coaches, sponsors and a bat person are the only individuals allowed in the bench area.

  9. Protests
The tournament committee will decide all protests. As manager, please be familiar with rules of the game including proper protest procedures. See ASA playing rule 9.

  10. Run Rule
Run Rule is 15 runs after three innings; 12 runs after four innings; and 8 runs after five innings.

  11. Rain Delay
In the event of rain or any cause which interrupts a game, the game must be resumed at the exact point where it was stopped. It is the manager's responsibility to call the rain information hotline (812-349-3610), or visit the tournament director's information tent for re-scheduled game information. Bloomington has completed every national tournament we have hosted in the past and we intend to complete this one.

  12. Team Seating
The team at the top of the bracket will use the first base dugout. The team listed on the bottom of the bracket will use the third base dugout.

  13. Official Game Balls
12 inch yellow optic, 47 Cor, 375 Worth Dream Seam.

  14. Game Rules
All playing rules and regulations for the tournament will be governed by the 2013 ASA Official Guide and Rulebook.

  15. Conduct
Managers and coaches are asked to have complete control of their players, parents, and supporting spectators both on and off the field. The tournament committee will deal with any reports of damage by hotel management. Spectators that become abusive or generally vulgar to umpires, opposing players, or fans will be handled in a three-step process: First, notification to the manager at a breaking point in the game; second, direct warning to the violator(s); and third, suspension of the game and ejection of the individual from the facility within a two-minute time period.

  16. Eligibility
Please see the 2013 ASA Code Article 501 for clarifications and interpretations.

  17. Player Passes
Player passes will be distributed to rostered players and two coaches/managers. All participants must have a pass to gain entrance to the softball complexes. Participants without player passes will be required to pay the daily admission price. The player passes and two coaches/managers passes will be distributed at the managers check-in. We do not allow bat persons, scorekeepers, or more than two coaches/managers free admittance. Additional coach passes can be purchased at check-in.

  18. Souvenirs
Souvenirs will be available throughout the weekend at the Twin Lakes Sports Park.

  19. Pets/Scooters/Rollerblades/Alcoholic Beverages
None of the above are allowed in the fenced ballfield or spectator seating area of either Twin Lakes Sports Park or Winslow Sports Complex.
We welcome service dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. The provision of emotional support, well-being, comfort, or companionship is not the type of "work or tasks" considered in the ADA's definition of service animal.
